Cardinals rely on bullpen (again)

Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post Dispatch reports that the Cardinals will continue to rely on the bullpen. I don’t know if the bullpen can hold up for another year, however, just based on the shear fact that they threw so many innings last year. Their September ERA was awful. If we don’t get a lot of innings out of our starters this year, we could be in even more trouble than we originally thought….

Izzy talks about how he took less money to stay with the Cards, and how he hopes to stay in St. Louis, but that he realizes it’s a business. He also likes what the new GM John Mozeliak did in the off season, saying he would rather not overspend this year, but rather wait for a better free agent class at the end of this season.
