Cardinals rely on bullpen (again)

Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post Dispatch reports that the Cardinals will continue to rely on the bullpen. I don’t know if the bullpen can hold up for another year, however, just based on the shear fact that they threw so many innings last year. Their September ERA was awful. If we don’t get a lot of innings out of our starters this year, we could be in even more trouble than we originally thought….

David Wells Calls

Derrick Goold of the the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that David Wells called the Cardinals. However, it seems like management wants to continue with the youth movement, and try and see how there younger players fare.

Edmonds, not Pujols, anchor of the lineup?

Jim Edmonds talks about how much he matured while in St. Louis in this article by Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. However, he also says he’s looking forward to the new adventures he hopes to meet compared to what happens year in and year out when you’re on the same team since 2000. He also talks about how he was only going to waive his no trade clause to the Padres, and that he wanted a chance to play every day. Michael Barrett also said in the article that Edmonds was the anchor to the lineup, and not Pujols or Rolen. Another Edmonds article worth checking out……
