Duncan to start against Santana

Chris Duncan is starting today against Johan Santana. That’s a huge surprise-I didn’t think he’d play at all against lefties.

The rest of the lineup for today against Santana and the Mets:

  1. Brian Barton, CF
  2. Chris Duncan, LF
  3. Albert Pujols, 1B
  4. Troy Glaus, 3B
  5. Juan Gonzalez, DH
  6. Ryan Ludwick, RF
  7. Yadier Molina, C
  8. Aaron Miles, 2B
  9. Brendan Ryan, SS

Players to watch: Barton, Duncan, Gonzalez, and Ryan. Let’s see how they do against one of the best pitchers in the game, and let’s see if Ryan can try to nab the need off spot.

Wainwright gets the start.....

Duncan can't get better against lefties without facing lefties. With this being Spring Training where games don't matter, what better time to get Duncan more practice in game situations against a lefty than in Spring Training, without risking regular season games. Duncan is a lock for the team, so now they are just trying to get him ready for Opening Day.This however should be a great time to see how Barton does in center and if he is ready for big league ball and if Gonzalez really does still have anything left in the tank. Should be an interesting game...

Yeah I think Duncan should be seeing as many lefties as possible...LaRussa didn't start him against lefties so much last year it was pathetic....how can you learn to face him if he doesn't bat against him?

And I am looking forward to seeing how Barton/Gonzalez play.....
